Walkham Vale by Alex37 Walkham Vale by Alex37
Once the sun came out the snow quickly melted on the grasses, spoiling any hope of getting the other images I was after. Equally the clouds around on the day werent particularly great, all except for this one, which I spotted slowly driving toward the river valley. 10 minutes later I had my shot. Picctured is the winding valley of the Walkham on the way to the rivers head. It is one of several fantastice rivers which start on Dartmoor.

Another one of my favorites. Amazing mix of colors, shades and forms. Oh, these gentle curves.

I like this because it's original, The 50/50 balance between the horizon works well with the curves in the mid ground flowing nicely towards the foreground. I think this is fantastic :)

I really like the warped sort of symmetry here - how you've captured the cloud at just the right angle and the interlocking shapes in the hills on either side of the river.

I also think that the melting snow gives it a bit more interest as opposed to just a white landscape, but that could just be my personal opinion.

All in all, great shot [:

That's beautiful. Its almost like a scene from Russia of Argentina. And the land is lighter than the sky. WE don't get that here :D The hovering cloud balances it well. Imagine if it were not there.

Really f****ng good Alex. I love the simplicity and the colours - you are so lucky that the sun has come out for you. That cloud formation just tops it all off.

thanks, whilst I was happy for the cloud, I was disappointed that the sun came out so soon, the snow didnt last long

Wonderfully crisp shot! Very nicely done, Alex. :)

Sadly, from my point of view at any rate, there hasn't been a single flake here over the past week or so. You would think that with all of the snow that we are getting at the moment that at least some of it would come this way. I feel left out of the countries joy/misery! :(

I like it. For some odd reason, it reminds me of an image of salt flats, or something similarly Nevadan. Pleasing colours, especially the blue in the sky. It would've been nice if the edges of the cloud all fitted in, but I'm sure nature wasn't being that perfectly cooperative ;)
