Torridonian Sandstone by Alex37 Torridonian Sandstone by Alex37
Arriving at night, the conditions that greeted us on our first morning in Inverpolly/Assynt certainly weren't welcoming but there was plenty of drama. The prevalent rock type of the area is Torridonian sandstone, it formed more than a billion years ago.

That Torridonian looks a lot like granite :D Beautiful landscape - the large rounded boulder (a true fish out of water) makes for a great subject.

I have no words to do justice to this wonderful piece. The landscape and atmosphere gives a rare glimpse into ancient history, before mankind forgot how to live 'with' nature and began to do their best to ruin it. This image speaks to me in a way that I can't explain but I know that is good for my soul. Absolutely stunning.

First of all no one, has been on this planet alive that long to verify this, not even the E.T race that have seeded this planet. Secondly, the current 'carbon dating method' used by some scientists and unfortunately accepted as the norm to date everything is totally inaccurate. Our planet is much younger than some scientist estimate! In fact, if you do a bit of research, you'll find that, that is the case.

But none of this really matters! What matters is that you take some awe inspiring pictures!:)

Thanks but for better or worse I believe the normally accepted life of the planet! It's easy in the information age to find information that supports any theory or fact, in cases like this were it doesn't really matter I generally allow other people to make the decision for me.
