Tavistock in Devon by Alex37 Tavistock in Devon by Alex37
Tavistock is my nearest town and where I did most of my growing up, both at home and boarding school. It also won English Market Town of the Year 2007 (for those of you with a thirst for random facts).

Yesterday evening and today were my first times out driving on my own. I have decided that driving makes this laughably easier! I think I am just going to budget a lot of money for travel when I get my paycheck!

I couldnt have hoped for better conditions, I turned up at 4.30 and just watched the mist drift around and the light levels rise whilst listening to The Eagles. Great way to start the day.

Very minimal preocessing, no saturation.

It's funny how photography can make hellish places seem rather pretty. Nice pic. :D

Obviously I haven't a great respect for Tavistock itself though!

I love how the clouds and the mists blend together, yet are separated definitively by the color. Great, great shot!

Ah well in the UK many of the older towns formed around a market at their center. Basically it just means that it was voted to be the best amongst these hundreds of towns.
Thanks

beautiful shot, I love how the mist just hovers over the town. I remember flying over england at that time in the morning, and seeing pools of mist speckled across the land, this reminded me so much of that. :)

Fantastic shot mate! Lovely lines and textures in this. Welcome to the world of driving around madly chasing nice light around the countryside. You'll find it doesnt matter how fast you drive you just can't quite keep up with the setting sun hahaha.

Thanks Tom. I've actually found that at the moment I am arriving way to early. I have got used to taking an hour to get to a destination that now takes 15 minutes

Ah well thats definitely making the most of it, good to hear in a way. Always better to be there early predicting the light. As they say, if you see nice light you're already too late hah.

I have yet to see these amazing low mists, and I cannot wait for that morning. Another great shot, love the subtle colours, and the sense of tranquility.
Glad you're enjoying the driving, it does make photography a whole lot easier. :D
