Stickle Tarn by Alex37 Stickle Tarn by Alex37
Another shot from my first day in the lakes. As the sun rose higher the little cloud we had cleared and we were treated to a day fo unbroken sunshine. The conditions were so good that we had no hesitation in walking off the paths around the Langdale Pikes

Stunning, i can almost feel what it is like to be there! If only I was!
What camera do you use? and I suppose in order to make these shots you turn the camera on the tripod to take the individual pictures to string together? or do you move the tripod and take a series that face in the same direction?

I use a Canon 5D, although I dont think that is relevant.

I shoot panormaics on a tripod (actually I ALWAYS shoot with a tripod). I move the camera on the tripod.

Oh? I suppose its down to the lense you use then?

Ah, alright thankyou <3

I dont think the lens I use is relevant either! You honestly cant tell the difference between a Canon 300D and kit lens (£300) vs a IDmkIII and 16-35 (£3000). Landscape photography is about light and composition. Gear just determines how large you can print and also affects clarity VERY SLIGHTLY (and that can be recovered in PP anyway)

Be careful not to get hung up on gear, it makes comparitively little difference

Impressive Alex, good to see some snow shots from you. Those clouds added a lot of interest to the landscape.

Ahh, it wasn't a "lucky" alignment eh? These can be tough to expose too, you nailed this one.

Thanks. I was very aware of the classic snow scene underexposure issue :P The cloud was lucky, the alignment wasnt

yeah well this was actually over the weekend, I headed up early to do some photogrpahy. On the work side of things we hardly left the hotel, it was a bit irrelevant that we were in the lakes!

Awesome vantage point, the view is excellent. I bet it was cold though :D Great detail in the mountains. Im liking the colour in the clouds and the formation of them, give it a cool feeling.
