Staple Tors by Alex37 Staple Tors by Alex37
On my third trip up to Staple Tors in 26 hours (and its an hours walk each way) I finally got the kind of conditions I really hope for. It wasnt perfect, these stunning clouds were only in the western sky, but it was great fun all the same. Funnily enough I was so convinced the sunset was going to be a flop I almost truned back at the bottom of the tor, just as well I didnt!

I know the composition isnt conventional. I like it though so I am going to post it, still I would be interested to hear critiques.

wow the colours are so unique and beautiful.. catches my eye instantly. and the streaks of horizontal lines gives it such a far and wide perspective.. like looming over the tors. beautiful!

LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT!!! :iconhyperlarryplz:

Awesome stuff, although full-view could be a little bigger so's one could see all the little cloud details. :)

unfortuantely people steal work from this site on a fairly regular basis, the sharpening method I use ensures that there is a lot of detail in the smaller web res images at least. Thanks for the compliment :)

I would agree with others that the composition here looks great. The stones lead your eye to the first tor, and then from that to the next...and then to the sky. Very effective, and with a nice tonal range too.

if your going out never go back...as you say quite often when you think its gonna be useless coditions theres a five minute break in the clouds that is great, i had this the other day.....
knowing how difficult composition is at tors like this i appreciate this as a v good composition...
lovely colours, as ever impressive how you recover detail in the distance...although the left hand side of the far distance bothers me a little...
but thats nit picking its a great shot as ever alex...

the thing is Steve that bothers me too, but its got nothing to do with the blend, its haze/mist in the valley. The blend line is actually on the slope going down beneath the horizon on the left. I might darken that area, but its there on the original exposures, so I dont know if I should
Thanks Steve

ive had that with a few images.....i just think that section from the blend to the horizon is a little too 'light'....if its there do whatevers right...

Exposure is perfect
Composition is simple, but works very well
Colors are amazing.
I´m thinking about croping part of the sky to give more impact to that yellow zone, but it´s only for bothering you mate.
Great image Alex.

The detail is due to the sharpening method I use, see one of my past journals or the news article I wrote. I now use a 5D

Haha, I definitely feel awkward critiquing some one with your talent, but the composition doesn't work for me. I seem to be one of the only ones though, so that's good. It just seems to lead my eye off the left of the photo and I kind of expect to see more landscape.

But, yeah, beautiful colours :). I love your work.

Both shots are very good. I prefer this one. I like those sunset colours. :)
The story with the tripod leg is funny. I'm glad I don't have these problems. Maybe in 10 years when i have enough money to buy a full frame cam Congrats to the purchase. :D
