This was a 30 second exposure taken from a tripod. You could get a similar effect after a couple of seconds with it getting really smooth after about 10 seconds. This shot was taken with a Canon 20D, a camera that you can buy now for £150 or so.
if you think asking me brashly whether one of my images is manipulated is showing respect you are mistaken. I didnt actually take offence to your question, but it is almost meaningless. There is no such thing as a photo that isnt manipulated and I answered the question directly.
Like almost any digital landscape photographer I use Adobe Photoshop but I dont see that as a relevant fact at all.
Alex, I saw this one on your website, and I'm really impressed with it. It is not easy to isolate a great composition having a whole river, a tree in the middle ground and an overgrown river bank in one image, but you did this wonderfully. The golden-orange reflection and the wave in the foreground give it depth and dynamism. All this makes this to me an stunningly beautiful image. Congrats!
My only critique would be that a somewhat higher resolution upload would be even more impressive.
