The waterfall, just up from 'Black Rock' has been a bit of a nemesis of mine. I've probably photographed it a dozen times and I have uploaded a similar shot before only to remove it because I wasn't happy. I think this is the best I have got so far, helped by the fact that the 17-40 I used doesn't have the flare issues of the kit lens which had previously spoil t the shot. I apologise Steve that the location is so familiar to me.

Beautiful composition mate.
How do you like the 17-40mm? I don't know weather to go with that or the Sigma 10-20..

I love the 17-40 and I have never regretted buying it. However, I had planned to move up to a 5D much sooner, and at the moment I often cant shoot as wide as I would like so I have to stitch

I plan on getting the 10-20 for my 40D, sadly I cant afford the 5D.
Would you recommend the 17-40 over the 10-20 wide angle for me?

focal lengths are a personal decision, certainly i think you would find that 17mm on a crop wasnt wide enough in lots of cases.

actually not far from my home, in Devon England. There arent too many streams like this about so it is very fortunate for me to live so close because it has basically been where I learnt landscape photography. Thanks again

Now, *this* composition is superb! My eye flows perfectly through the image! Excellent foreground use as well.
