Reinebringen Sunset by Alex37 Reinebringen Sunset by Alex37
One of the highlights of the trip to Lofoten was camping overnight on the ridge of Reinebringen. With 400m drops either side of our tent it wasn’t a pitch for the feint of heart but it was an incredibly exciting experience. In the evening we made our way further up the ridge to this fantastic view of Reine and the surrounding peaks.

Just fantastic. I'll be there too in June and really looking forward to that trip :)
Hoping for some nice weather as well. How long and when exactly have you been there? Did you have nice weather most of the time?

Just two weeks last summer (14th - 25th August). We had perfect weather almost every day (9 days of sunshine, 1 cloudy and 1 rain) but that is very unusual and it is more likely that you would get a mixed bag of weather.

Yeah, I´m expecting to get mixed weather. 9 sunny days would be fantastic, but I think it wouldn´t be normal in June as well.

yeah, besides its the transient conditions that produce the best light. It was obviously fantastic to have blue skies whilst we were there, it made it the best holiday it could have been, but purely from a photography perspective it would have been nice to have a greater variety of light (but I'm not complaining!)

I've said this before to several others, and this just further supports my theory: It is impossible to take a bad photo of Norway. Beautiful shot, the view was certainly worth the hike. Nice job.

haha, I assure you its not as several of my images will testify!

It is however true that if you have a good handle on composition and technique and you put the effort in to be on location when the light is good then yes you might well end up with good photos!

Please do not take what I said the wrong way. Your photo clearly shows the eye you have for composition and your skill for light and shutter control. My comment was more one about how beautiful a country Norway is. I see photos of these beautiful rolling mountains emerging from the sea, the fjords, the forests, even the towns and cities, and quite often, the location of the photo is somewhere in Norway.

With that said, the most necessary element of a good photo is a skilled person behind the lens, and you clearly demonstrate this in spades. Excellent photo.

it's okay I was being pedantic, I know your comment was innocuous really. Thanks for the compliments though, very kind.

It is nothing but pure talent and dedication as far as the eye can see!
But these images only capture a minute impression of what must have been an awesome experience for you in 360 degrees and more.

yes indeed, that's one of the constant struggles of photography of course, no matter how hard you try is very difficult to capture the experience in a still image! Thanks.
