Moskenesøya is the outermost of the Lofoten Islands in northern Norway. It offers some of the most spectacular peaks, cliffs and beaches in the world and is a favourite location for hikers looking for something a bit more challenging.
This shot was taken from the summit of Hermandalstinden, the highest mountain on Moskenesoya at 1029m. Our hike started around midday at the coast at Moskenes and I
reached the summit moments before the light was gone. Although it was a spectacular sight I did feel a tinge of guilt since my girlfriend had to turn back due to a particularly precarious section of path. Not wanting to miss an outstanding opportunity I eventually decided to head on to the top anyway leaving Emma to head back to the tent. The hike to the summit is one of the hardest I have done and amongst the more scary, in fact the paths in Lofoten are generally just poorly maintained tracks! the view from Hermandalstinden is probably one of the finest in the world with views in all directions.

I have almost never seen such a finely executed complex photograph. It is this kind of photo, not simplified in the usual sense that I strive to make and I have never seen such a good example of it.

My hat's of to you.

Incredible vistas. I can imagine the hikes are not easy to do, very steep trails probably with lots of slippery rock faces.
The light is beautiful, and the cloud cover is fantastic to look at.
