Light On by Alex37 Light On by Alex37
I got up at 4.30 for this one. THe mist was unexpected. I woke up bleary eyed and looked out of my bedroom window to see a feild glowing, and I thought to myself that the reflection fo the dew was unusually bright, then I realised it was mist and basically ran out of the door.

There are 3 light sounrces here, the moon, the streetlights and an early dawn glow.

What an incredible moment captured ! A landscape I dream to see. This is a view from your house !?!
The mist and the moon light give an unreal atmosphere...
Best regards France ;-)

i only just found this shot and personally i think its the best shot you've ever taken. I always wondered about photographing mist in the moonlight and now i'm highly motivated to go find some!

Thanks, I think it is amongst my best for sure, the only drawback being the image quality. Thanks Justin

whats wrong with the quality mate? If your going to say noise forget about it. Noise is neglible and depending on how heavy it is, rarely shows up as much in print as it does on screen :)

You really dont need to tell me about my own print quality, no offence!

eh? :s I was saying if its noise your concerned about when you yourself stated 'quality of the image' being an issue with this shot I was putting your mind at ease saying don't worry about it?

well your telling me its negligeable...I am telling you I have sold this image in 12" 15" and 18" but the 30" print I had done wasnt of sufficient quality.

Essentially what I am saying is that I know what the quality is like, and how much the noise shows in the image! :)

ok well if you had of pointed that out in the first post and explained WHY it wasn't sufficient quality I wouldn't of wasted my breath saying that noise in images is acceptable and less noticible in prints would I? :) How was I supposed to know that you had had it printed lol

I have printed ALL of the images in my portfolio to 18"
I have printed nearly all of my panoramics to 24"
I have printed some of my images to 30"

It's so beautiful - I love the moon~! This reminds me of how wonderful life is in that there are times when things just come together to form the perfect feeling/setting. Don't know if that made any sense, but this picture made me really happy. :thanks:

and i like the hedges on the grasslands
that's really the moon?
i first thought it would be the sun, though it would be a bit high for that hour ^^"

That is really the moon. If you have a look at lunar charts the altitude of the moon is pretty predictable and regular in relation to the time of sunrise/set throughout its cycle. Thanks

Amazing. It's only a pity you had to over-expose the moon so badly to get the lighting perfect on everything else. The mist turns the streetlights' glow into what looks like fires :D

I like it the way it is, too, but if it was my shot I know I'd want to get some detail on the moon's face. I assume from what you say that you have this in RAW, with retrievable detail on the moon, but I reckon it would still be quite a task to bring that in without spoiling the excellent light-quality of the rest of the pic. :)

exactly, it ceases to look at all realistic past a certain point. I have already reduced the exposure of the moon by about a stop
