The heather on Dartmoor peaks in mid august, give or take a week or so. On the western moor it is relatively thinly dispersed but is abundant on the eastern moor.

oh the technicalities!
No, I wont tell you camera details. I will tell you that sunstars like this are only made by a canon 17-40 (to my knowledge) but the 16-35 makes nicer stars

The heather is just stunning this year - I swear that driving up on Porlock Moore I could only see purple and sky!!

yeah if I get another chance I wil be heading out to find heather elsewhere, although I do have several shots fo tavy cleave that I would find difficult to improve upon.
