From Carnedd y Cribau by Alex37 From Carnedd y Cribau by Alex37
An unexpected burst of light just before sunset caught me off gaurd in what was originally a scouting mission to find compositions for the following morning. This light display was at its best for only a minute. I took this shot and then ran off to find a stronger composition only for the light to fade. Although I could have done more with more time I was still extremely happy to capture this.

The highlights have been left blown out intentionally, it just doesnt look realistic otherwise.

Yeah, I suppose you could say that, although the fact that I also see lots of 'wrong moments' levels the balance a bit!

I like how the lines of light and hill cut the composition. There's a great sense of endless distance in this photo, you can see the space opening before you as you reach the top of the hill. It's so calming yet fresh and somehow filled with life and a certain hope, I feel like I can just breathe the warmth in. Great job. Where was this taken?

In snowdon are we mate? Love the place. Checkout the Watkins path - nice waterfalls and slate buildings. Once you get upto the ridge thought its scrabbling up steep slopes. Steepest ascent you can do up snowdon.

Yes, this is in Snowdonia.

I've actually already planned a sunrise shoot up that path although whether I actually go will depend on conditions.

Thanks

Alex

Yeah timing the sun position is horrid on closed in areas like pen-y-pass and watkins.

Hopfully i'll get back up there again in the next few months, maybe march. need a holiday!
