Its not often that my images are directly influenced by others but I was encouraged to shoot snow in this predawn light by this shot by David Clapp: [link]

Certainly my shot isnt on quite the same level, but still its nice to have something completely different in my gallery.

We dont get snow often here in the southwest of England. When we do get snow there has rarely been good light, so this was a very exciting morning for me. If only the good light could have lasted longer.

The blue colour was from the blue sky...The White balance was set to 6000K, warmer than velvia. I actually slightly desaturated this one.

This is nice, REALLY, I like snow scenes - a lot!
...
The difference I think would be that you chose to shoot "into" the sunrise ...

... Had you shot from the side .. across the light, you would have gotten those dark blues and whiter whites (Colorado Mountains are full of that -- we wear amber lenses to compensate!!). But you also did not have a convenient tree.

This might have been one of those times to grab your preferred shot and then "dash" to the other angle for the next try. You do very nice work.

Thanks for the detailed comment. I must say thoguh that this is shot at 90 degrees tot he light and you can tell this with a glance at the foreground. Thanks though :)
